Love

Our job is to love others without stopping to inquire whether or not they are worthy.
That is not our business and, in fact, it is nobody's business.
What we are asked to do is to love, and this love itself will render both ourselves and our neighbors worthy if anything can.

Crazy Weather

Some crazy weather came through here on Tuesday afternoon. Tornado sirens were going off while I was in Publix before picking the kids up from school. Nasty skies driving home. Owen is dancing around, saying intermittent prayers that we stay safe interspersed with random turrets announcements like "Yay, this will be just like the Wizard of Oz". Todd pulled up two minutes behind me to say the Tornado warning has been downgraded to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.

Apparently, the National Weather Service didn't know what they were doing that afternoon. It was a tornado that came through our neighborhood ripping up trees and knocking down tables. The whole street was littered with leaves, branches and golf ball size hail by the time it was gone. It was loud as hell hearing the hail hit our windows for close to 10 minutes while having Owen burrow into my lap crying. Meanwhile, Chloe is dancing around the living room singing "I'm not scared. I'm not scared. Owen, I'm not scared" as she looks at us upside down being her silly self. I was freaked out about the weather until the hail began hammering our windows and then I just felt calm and peace. Strangest feeling, but I was thankful for it. Specially since our oldest was in my lap terrified we were going to be blown away.

Todd paced around most of the time muttering "dammit, we should have had MY car in the garage!" while he tried to get a good look out the windows to see his car. But it was raining too hard with too many leaves & branches blowing around to even see as far as our driveway. Anyway, we came out safe. About 8 trees snapped in half or uprooted completely behind our house. Many houses were damaged by falling trees and one neighbor had the upper half of their chimney blown off. It was laying on the ground about 50 feet from their house. The fences around the tennis courts were blown around pretty good, too.
