Love

Our job is to love others without stopping to inquire whether or not they are worthy.
That is not our business and, in fact, it is nobody's business.
What we are asked to do is to love, and this love itself will render both ourselves and our neighbors worthy if anything can.

Getting Hurt

Owen was playing well in this game.  Unfortunately, the opposing team was the most formidable team with many boys who have likely played together for years.  It is widely recognized and the score keeper even shuts the scoreboard off before the game starts.

The other boys play hard and rough.  Owen has gotten hurt every time his team has played the Blue Team.  This was the worst.  He got hurt twice and just had it.

Owen really wanted to just leave the gymnasium and go home, but we refused.  He wasn't happy.  After the tears stopped, there was pouting.  We talked about the importance of not abandoning your team.  Then there was sulking.

I don't think he agreed with us about not leaving by the time we left.  But hopefully it left an impression and he will be less likely to want to leave his team if/when he gets hurt again.  Hopefully.
