Zombies and Swimming

Yesterday after lunch, Papa Ford picked up the kids to take them home for a sleepover.  They got spoiled with fun and treats.  When he returned them today, one was still my child and the other was a zombie.

The boy is obsessed with turning the unsuspecting into bunnies.

Papa was worn out and needed to be at work early the next morning.  I took the kids out swimming before dinner in an attempt to wash off the rest of the face paint that wouldn't come off with a wash cloth.  They are such fish and just loooooove being in the water!

Aunt Kiki came over for part of the evening and the kids enjoyed seeing her.  Doesn't Chloe look so grown up with her French braid?

Ernie on the Go

Tonight this boy was busy.  He was exploring everywhere downstairs.

He couldn't quite make it into Maggie's water bowl.

Ernie tried to go behind the sofa, but didn't fit.

This blind boy tried bumping into my shoes a few times before wandering on his way.  (That's my camera strap hanging down and blurring half my photo.  Whoops.

Ernie found another way beyond the sofa and squeezed underneath it.  He is not so scrawny as when we first brought him home, but has a little more weight to gain.  Easier to see from this viewpoint.

Ernie didn't stop to rest at all, he was moving fast from one room to the next.

He checked out every baseboard and table or chair leg.

And then he bumped into Dylan and started sniffing him out.

But our sweet Dylan is known to be a bit of a Nancy boy and took off quickly.  Dylan still isn't sure what to think about Ernie and if he can be trusted.

Ernie even managed to climb up a few of the stairs, which was great to see.  He is really getting so much stronger.  Yay Ernie!

A Trip to Peachtree City

On this morning, Kelley decided to drive the kids down to Peachtree City.  We drove around town to see houses that she lived in, as well as Grandma Eloise with Papa Steve and old friends.  Then we went to Huddleston Elementary, where she went for fourth through sixth grade.  The kids had fun playing on their playground.  Of course our little monkey loved the monkey bars.

They both liked the balance beam because it was curvy and not like the boring straight ones.

Owen and Kelley played catch with a tennis ball.  The boy was all over that!

And the girl child played in the dirt.  She is fascinated by playing in the dirt.  Always.

We cooled off in a little pergola before it was time to meet a friend for lunch at Partners II Pizza.

Owen asked for photos to be taken while his sister studied the dirt.

He was so cooperative and surprised me in continuing to ask for his picture to be taken.  Yay Owen!

Chloe found a lightning bug.  She let it crawl on her arms for awhile before she asked if she could squash.  She was a bit disappointed when she was told she was not allowed to squash the lightning bug.  And then even more disappointed when she wasn't allowed to bring it in the car.  Silly girl.

Music and Dance Club Performance

The kids have practiced for weeks months in their after-school program to learn these dance routines and skits.  They have worked hard, practicing at school and home and absolutely LOVED every minute of it!

This is the one they worked on the longest --> Justin Bieber's "Baby, Baby" song.

Chloe had such a serious look on her face throughout the entire performance.

I think they really liked working with other kids as a team to pull of a synchronous performance, but also to trust each other in dance moves like this where they had to hold on to each other and move together to keep from falling on their backs.

There were so many moves to remember.....this was a looooong song!

Owen and his friend Matthew performed a comedy skit together and laughed hysterically throughout.

The boy loves to be at the center of attention when he can make people laugh.

He was pretending he couldn't hear the person at the other end and made the silliest faces.

This was at the end when each child got called to the front for bows and applause.  Of course he cartwheeled his way across the front of the stage.

You can even see the parents' reflections as they are smiling and clapping.  His cartwheels always go over well.

Chloe also recited a Shel Silverstein poem while wearing her clothes backwards and socks on her hands.  She did a great job! Not sure how the photographer didn't get that captured....she's so fired.

The kids wanted a photo with Ms. Brandie.  They love her to pieces and have asked if they can be a part of her Music and Dance team again next year, even thought they won't be going to after-school. 

You Know Summer is Almost Here When...

The kids are playing in the sprinkler.

Performing karate middle stances in the driveway and swimsuits.

And making a beeline for the ice cream truck when it comes down the street.

They were even sharing tastes of their treats with each other.

This is the life!
