Afternoon at Turner Field

Todd got free seats at the Braves game from work for the four of us.  The kids were excited to go downtown.  Watching the flag take up most of the field for the National Anthem was really cool.

We sat near the top of the stadium behind home plate and had a great view of the Atlanta skyline.

Owen enjoyed watching the game.

And Chloe enjoyed the refreshments.

Our friends Joe and Kelly Juhasz were at the game, too.  Chloe had fun hanging out with Joe.

It looked like there was a storm rolling in, but it never rained while we were at the game.

Chloe liked the cotton candy that Kelly bought for the kids to share.

Chloe liked the peanuts, too.  She was all about the food!

Pizza and Ice Cream

Papa Ford came up for the day to see Owen's soccer game in the afternoon and then we all went out to dinner at the Mellow Mushroom.  The kids thought it was pretty cool to watch the guys behind the counter make the pizzas.

Since everyone did a good job eating their dinner, we drove across the street to Bruster's for some of their delicious ice cream.

Doesn't get much better than pizza, ice cream and hanging with the grandparents!

Little Horse Watches Soccer

Right away, Owen scored a goal.  He kicked it from his team's goal and it went over all the midfielders, bounced once and went past a shocked goalie on the other team.  Way to go, Owen!

For this soccer game, we brought Dylan along with us.

After that first goal, Owen was out on the field and kicking from the corner.

Dylan was a good boy and chilled during the game.  He also got a lot of attention from other kids at the soccer games.

Owen scored another goal and started into a cartwheel.

And was so excited that he went right into another!

And while Owen was scoring goals and turning cartwheels, Chloe was practicing backbends with another girl.

Cloudy With a Chance of Soccer

The cloud cover made for a cooler evening.

Chloe was busier than the players and quite thirsty.

She was even practicing her cartwheels!

She's doing great getting her feet up in the air, isn't she?

Soccer Practice Under the Moon

Soccer practice started at 6pm and the moon was already out keeping watch.

Most of the time, Chloe is lucky enough to participate in practice.  Even though she isn't wearing shin guards and that is a requirement for the team members to be allowed to practice.

Owen took turns with some of the other kids playing goalie.

In between players kicking the ball at the goal, our boy was turning cartwheels.

When she gets bored, she nibbles.

Kick it, Chloe!

It is so fun watching Owen play soccer in a field and see that he loves it so much more than kicking the ball against our front door.

Chloe decided she had enough of practice and started running around the outskirts of the field.

And then she got too mouthy for her own good and sat on the sidelines for the remainder of practice.  So hard being six sometimes.

Mother's Day Trip to the Atlanta Zoo

The Atlanta Zoo had a special deal on Mother's Day that moms get in free, so we went!  Flamingos greeted us just through the entrance.

We talked about their coloring and how they get it from the shrimp they eat.  The kids thought that was pretty cool.

We found a thicket of bamboo that the kids loved.

These are the faces that meerkats make.  Promise.

Giraffes need bunny ears.

Giraffes also have long tongues.

We all agreed the gorillas were fun to watch and laughed as one of the babies ran off inside a burlap sack before his momma chased him down.

Roar!

Bunny ears were the theme for the week day.

Chloe liked sitting in Willy B's lap.

I don't think any of us had ever seen a red panda before.  This one was sound asleep on top of his home.

Who doesn't like happy goats?  

It was too hot for the kangaroos.  They were all laying down snoozing.  Aren't ther dark feet neat on the red kangaroo?

We found a playground near the end of our walk through the zoo and Bean had so much fun on a four-kid teeter totter.

And Owen had fun playing by himself.

This was a great start to Mother's Day!
